Everyone’s Mixtape

Do you love listening to and sharing music online?  Do you appreciate the art of creating a music mix where the songs flow together in a logical order?  EveryonesMixtape.com is a website where you can create, edit, share, and listen to virtual mixtapes.  According to Everyone’s Mixtape:

Everyone’s Mixtape’s celebrates the art of creating mixtapes.  You can add to an existing mix, or start one of your own.  Share with the world, your friends, or that girl from science class.  Everyone’s Mixtape is not about adding songs and hitting shuffle.  It’s about the time you looked at a cassette’s length as a challenge.  About the time you stayed up most of the night making sure all the tracks flowed from song to song.  It’s about the time your heart skipped a beat when the boy from science class handed you your first mixtape.  It’s more than a playlist.

Music can be added from YouTube, Vimeo, and Soundcloud.

Anthm – It’s About Time People Control The Music!

Do have a hard time deciding what music to play when you’re planning a party?  Do you wish there was an easy way to get input from your guests so that everyone would get to hear at least one song that they like?  AnthmApp.com is a free app that lets your guests control a single playlist by adding songs and by voting songs up or down.  According to Anthm:

Anthm is an app that lets people control the music in the places they go.  Here’s how it works.  Lets say you have friends over.  Plug your device into your speakers and host a party.  Your friends can join your party and everyone can add music into ONE playlist.  The music comes from Rdio’s library so you and your friends can pick from millions of great songs.  It’s pretty much a jukebox in your hand, but unlike a jukebox you and your friends can vote on the music in the playlist.  Vote songs up to hear them sooner, vote them down to take them off the playlist.

Anthm is currently available for iPhone.  It is a relatively new app so expect to see support for other devices and new features added in the future.  Anthm also has a blog.

8tracks – Handcrafted Internet Radio

Do you love internet radio?  Do you like to make playlists for special occasions or to fit the current mood you’re in?  Do you like to listen to carefully arranged playlists created by other music enthusiasts?  8tracks.com is different kind of internet radio where you can listen to and create playlists of eight songs or more.  According to 8tracks:

8tracks is handcrafted internet radio.  It offers a simple way for people to share and discover music through an online mix, a short playlist containing at least 8 tracks…  8tracks believes handcrafted music programming trumps algorithms.  Think radio in the 1970s, mixtapes in the 1980s, and DJ culture of the 1990s through today.  DJs share their talent in taste making, providing exposure for artists.  Listeners get a unique blend of word-of-mouth sharing and radio programming — long the trusted means for music discovery — on a global scale…  On 8tracks, people can do two things: listen to a mix, or create a mix.  Listeners can search for a mix by artist or genre, stream it in a legal, radio-style manner, and follow others who make compelling mixes.

You can find mixes that are New today, Hot this week, and Popular this month.  Results can be filtered by genre.  You can also search for mixes containing a specific artist.
